abrupt departure from this world.
Last night my roommates and I went to the candle light visual on the Drill Field to honor and mourn the loss of our fellow Hokies, it was the most surreal and beautiful moment of my life.
To be surrounded by the night with thousands of incandescent candles flickering in the wind as silence and self reflection swept across the faces of the mourners was something that I will never forget for the rest of my life. And at that moment I no longer felt alone or scared. At that moment I saw in the faces of those around me that we are all one; we are all family, and we will all get through this tragedy with the love and support of each other.
Rest in Peace Emily Jane Hilscher.
