These caterpillars develop into beautiful Sphinx Moths that we enjoy seeing in the late summer. A more natural control, such as hand removal of the worms and placement nearby tree, should be tried first. Damage done in a tree will be much less noticeable, and will not affect the tree.
A final note. Before you buy any pest control product, you should make certain you know what pest you are trying to control, how hazardous the product is, how you are going to apply the product including the use of appropriate protective clothing and equipment, and have determined just how important it is to control that particular pest.
Read the product label carefully before you by the product and do not rely on what a store clerk says or tips from a friend.
