Washington Town Council members listened to a list of some $20,000 worth of maintenance needs and other costs for the town’s drinking water system during their monthly meeting on April 11.
The largest item concerned the switches that regulate the water level in the town reservoir. The switches are broken and it will cost nearly $12,000 to replace them, Town Clerk Laura Dodd said.
“I have major problems with this,” Council Member Claudia Mitchell said. “We paid $700,000 for something that looks like a big bucket of water that doesn’t have any controls on it.”
Town Treasurer Jerry Goebel said the engineers and consultants hired to build the reservoir should be responsible for making it work with the pump house.
