The Washington Town Council approved a package sewage-treatment system for the Foster-Harris House on Main Street at its regular meeting last Wednesday, but not without 12 conditions.
The council passed the system, but asked owners Patrick Foster and Camille Harris to agree to hook up to a centralized town septate oyatem, when and if such
a system isinstalled by thALyrn. j
The council also r&qtMBW regular maintenance be performed and designed the special" use permit to expire in five years if the package plant is not installed by that time.
The system must also be screened from the road and from the sight of adjoining property owners.
Ms. Harris said the request was “a last resort,” and asked that the council permit the installation of a better system if technology improves before the approved system is installed.
In other business, the council:
• Approved a special use permit for Spring Mountain School to open in the old Washington High School building on Mount Salem Avenue.
