“The end result is not depressing. Seeing that smile and hearing the good news is great,” she said.
“I want to help them develop their goals,” she said, explaining sometimes students just need a sounding board, sometimes they need direction.
She helps to place them in workstudy programs, equivalency-diploma classes if necessary or alternative education programs.
Students have discovered that problems can be solved and goals can be reached if they pull on the right strings, including Mrs. Fox’s. “I can’t walfo down the hall without someone pwitfng my braid,” she said, flipping her long hair to one side.
The tugs of friendship are so familiar she knows each one.
“You get used to it and pretty soon you know who’s pulling just by the tug,” she said.
