Judge rules
against FOI
A Richmond Circuit Court judge ruled recently that two gatherings of the General Assembly’s Budget Committees were legal, despite their being conducted behind closed doors.
Judge Randall Johnson ruled that because reporters were barred from the meetings and could not “prove” that meetings actually took place, the hunting lodge meeting and a closed-door budget meeting were not in violation of the Virginia Freedom of Information Act.
