Haunting melodies
Native American flutist, R. Carlos Nakai, will perform his haunting melodies at the Theatre at Washington, Va. at 8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 1. Local pianist Peter Kater will make a guest appearance to perform a few songs from their collaborative “Natives” recording. Tickets are on sale at Mountainside Market, Down to Earth in Sperryville, New Leaf Bookstore and Natural Marketplace in Warrenton, Better Thymes in Front Royal and Culpeper Music. Bingo at Amissville
The Amissville Volunteer Fire Department will have special bingo beginning at 6:45 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 4. Bingo will be held on Monday evenings until further notice. There will be a $500 jackpot. Call Sheila at 937-4357 for more information.
Bazzar to be held
The Eighth Annaul Bazzar presented by the Women of Calvary Episcopal Church of Front Royall will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 19 in the Parish Hall located on the comer of North Royal Avenue and Second Street. Flint Hill harvest dinner
The Flint Hill Ladies Auxiliary will serve a fall harvest dinner of ham, turkey and all the trimmings on Saturday, Oct. 19 at the fire hall. Dinner will be served between 4:30-7:30 p.m. Cost for adults is $8 and children $4.
Benefit auction
The Castleton Community Volunteer Fire Company will be havT ing an auction on Nov. 15. Donated items may be dropped off at the fire house on Saturdays or call 937-3076, 937-6051 or 937-5614 for pickups.
Haunted house at Flint Hill
The Flint Hill Volunteer Fire Department will hold its 2nd annual haunted house from 6:30-8:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 31 at the fire hall. Treats and refreshments will be served. There is no admission charge. Parental discretion is advised for young children.
Halloween dance
A “halloween dance” sponsored by the Amissville Volunteer Fire Department will be held from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. at the fire hall on Saturday, Oct. 26. The band Tarragon will perform. Costumes are encouraged and prizes will be awarded. For more informatiort call 937-4357.
