National Honor Society Students—those with high grade point averages and high standing within the school—tutor students offering both themselves and others an educational goal.
Students learn to organize events: SADD members, for example, plan and produce the after-prom parties each year.
They learn sportsmanship and school spirit as they compete for regional, state or national recognition in such groups as FBLA, TSA or other clubs.
Most students are introduced to club meetings and membership through homeroom announcements, classroom invitations or through club leaders.
“This year the TSA club was having a hot dog social to introduce students to the club,” Mr. Toth said, adding this was a new approach for enticing students to join.
