Talisman, the literary magazine from Wakefield School in Marshall, has been awarded a Medalist Rating from Columbia Scholastic Press Association, a division of Columbia University, in New York City.
The 1991 edition of the magazine earned 985 points out of a possible 1,000 and is in the running for the Silver and Gold Crowns, which will be awarded in New York in March. The judges opened their comments by saying, “The book is beautifully conceived and realized as an explora-' tion of the imaginative process."
The judging was done in several categories.
Alison Martin of Flint Hill was cited for her “particularly effective” and “magical” poem titled “Strawberry Moon.” In general, the judges commented that the “use of rhythm and rhyme is a strong element in the poetry presented.”
