It may be the Slack-Marshall family, or Girl Scouts, volunteers like Bob Scott or familiar faces from the high school, but all ghouls and ghosts, headless horsemen, skeletons and other scary figures are volunteers.

Before the hay rides, costume judging on originality takes place in three categories—three and under, four to seven and eight and up. A pinata party follows.
Various bonfires are available for hot dog roasting, marshmallow toasting and body warming.
“Wear warm clothes,” advised Mrs. Kreyling, adding near the fire it is warm but, “last year it got very cold on the hay wagons.”
Warm drinks, hot dogs and other items are for sale.
Hay ride directions are posted along the route from U.S. 211. Follow signs from U.S. 211 into Washington, west on Route 622 for one mile, right on Route 624 and left to parking.
