Sen. Miller was first elected to the Virginia Senate in 1983; prior to that he served two terms in the House of Delegates. For the past four years he has been the Senate minority whip. He sits on the Senate’s Rehabilitation and Social Services, Privileges and Elections, Local Government and Transportation committees.
He taught college accounting courses for 26 years (19 at JMU), retiring three years ago. He also spent 1 five years in the ’60s working for the IRS as an auditor.
Ms. Haynes’ political background includes membership in the Harrisonburg, Sixth Congressional District and Virginia State Democratic committees.
