Commission—again. At the meeting, last week the Town Council had before it two drafts; one composed by the Planning Commission and one drawn up by a council-commission study committee the week before.
Mr. Gooch, expressing concern that the action not appear to be a matter of the council overriding the commission’s work, suggested the council ask the commission to focus on specified items.
• Took no action on a subdivision application by the Rappahannock Citizen’s League on a property on Fodderstack Road. The council determined that the plat did not meet the requirements of the Subdivision Ordinance and sent it back to the Planning Commission.
• Heard an update by Mr. Gooch on the voluntary recycling program, which now has a site for the in-town receptacles: the Fire Hall.
Mr. Gooch said Fire Chief Roger Roach offered to allow the council to place the receptacles there if the town provides a fenced area for them.
“At this point it is our intention to continue pick-up,” said Mr. Gooch, who last month expressed frustration at the increase in effort the town’s recycling collection had undergone. At that time he said the program may be discontinued.
“If it becomes a problem we’ll just discontinue it, because we don’t want a trash dump,” said Mayor Morehouse last week.
