the car door they jumped in. They were tiny kittens, and the person who dumped the cats had gone to great effort to train them to jump into open car doors.
I was attempting to throw them back where they came from but they stuck to me like Velcro. I would toss one out the window, turn to get another and discover the first one crawling up my arm. A passerby stopped and watched my vain efforts at throwing sticky kittens out. The passerby said, “I think the kittens like you.”
Everyone likes to be liked so I was flattered. Then this stranger added “I know where I can find homes for kittens, so you take them now. I will call you in a day or two and take care of it.” I can see that he tricked me. He didn’t even ask my phone number and besides he had Maryland tags.
On the way home with the sticky kittens, one yellow, one calico and the smallest a gray, I saw a woman real estate broker. She said, “those kittens really like you, I know some people who want a kitten and you will get a call in a day or so!"
I have discovered that there are people out there with great reputations for doing good work but they never end up with the kittens.
