The varsity soccer team came back from a 4-0 halftime deficit against Notre Dame at home during Family Day Oct. 12, but still came up short, losing 4-2.

Bobby Nelson recovered his own deflected penalty shot, scoring the first Wakefield goal. Aram Kalpajian had the other score.

• Wakefield’s boys cross country team came in second in a four-team meet Oct. 12, and runner Matt McCurry finished third overall out of 11 boys. The girls team finished third overall, with Bridget Hickson the team’s top finisher, coming in fifth.

McCurry chalked up his fastest time ever, completing the three-mile course in 19:20. Colby Cowherd ws ninth at 25:27, and Tim Ingliss 10th in 25:43, his best time as well.
