There is no facility to house stray cats in the county. Dogs yes—cats no. The reason? Dogs threaten livestock, so money is appropriated. Back to the large property owners versus the less fortunate.

To the Editor:

Our heartfelt thanks to the volunteers of the Castleton and Amissville Fire and Rescue who responded to a life-threatening illness in our home. How many of us would get out of bed in the middle of the night to help a stranger? The lives of two newlyweds would have been changed forever if you had not been there to help them.

None of us knows when or if we will ever have to make that call for help, but after watching you in action I have no fear I know your dedication, professionalism and devotion to your job. We are proud to have you as our neighbors.
