The annual meeting of District VI of the NSDAR met at the Sheraton in Harrisonburg for a luncheon meeting on Thursday, Sept. 26 with the Director, Mrs. Edgar F. Puryear Jr. of the Culpeper Minute Men Chapter presiding. Many state officers and six former District VI Directors were recognized and introduced with Mrs. H.T.N. Graves, State Regent as special guest. All twenty two chapters in the district were represented with fourteen members of the Culpeper Minute Men Chapter being present.
The address given by Mrs. Graves was a reprise of her three year term during the centennial administration of the NSDAR. Oct. 11 marks the end of the National Bicentennial and the beginning of Virginia’s own bicentennial celebration. Of the original ten chapters, two were represented at this meeting. She urged attendance at the Virginia State Conference in Richmond next March at which time the plaque for the State Capitol, honoring the Virginia Signers of the Constitution, will be dedicated. Also, by then, she hopes that all twenty graves (one in West Virginia) of Virginia State Regents will be marked.
Reports were given by the State Officers, State Chairmen and the Regents of each chapter. New officers were elected for the next two years who will be installed at the State Conference in March.
