According to Rappahannock Elementary PTO Resource Committee Chairman Laurie Marshall, who generated the idea for the conference, by sharing ideas and innovations those interested in education can profit from the conference.
“I feel one of the greatest resources we have is the intelligence that lies within our community, and the purpose of the conference is to share that intelligence for the benefit of the children,” said Ms. Marshall.
Keynote speaker for the conference will be Dr. Marilyn Beck, president of Lord Fairfax Community College in Middletown. Dr. Beck will speak for about a half-hour on “Creating Lifelong Learners for the 20th Century.”
Conferees will then break into groups according to age level and type of* instruction (such as high school math, or elementary reading, etc.).
Within the smaller groups two or three people will make presentations—those interested in being presenters can so specify on their registration forms. After the presentations, group discussion will take place.
