Mrs. Carl Longley read the National Defense Report with its interesting comment - that the entire world owes Russia a debt of gratitude in that it tried for seventy years to make Communism work and it failed.
Chairman of the American Indians Committee, Mrs. Harding L. Thomas, thanked members for their generosity in purchasing chances for the shawl to benefit the Bacone Indian School, and that the recipient of the shawl had made a contribution of $50. As the school chapel burned last year, it has been requested that all funds go for restoring it rather than for scholarships. A motion was made to this effect and passed.
The next meeting will be a Dutch Treat Luncheon at 11:30 a.m. on Nov. 12 at Graves Mountain Lodge in Syria with Rear Admiral Eugene S. Ince Jr. being the speaker. Cost is $8.75 and reservations should be sent to Mrs. Carl Longley by Nov. 4.
