Farm equipment

is new tax credit

The General Assembly pased legislation in 1990 allowing fanners to take a tax credit for purchasing equipment that provides a more precise application of fertilizers and pesticides (commercial applicators excluded).

The credit is 25 percent of the cost, up to $3,750.

To file correctly for credit, a nutrient management plan, approved by the Culpeper Soil and Water Conservation District, must be dated no later than Dec. 31, 1991.

Slaughter didn't

bounce checks

U.S. Rep. D. French Slaughter Jr. this week released a letter from the House of Representatives’ Sergeant at Arms documenting that Mr. Slaughter hos not WTitten any personal checks on insufficient funds through the House bank.

Rep. Slaughter issued a statement saying, “I find it regrettable that many members of Congress are forced to prove they have not taken advantage of the House Bank by floating checks.”
