To the right of the entry are a bedroom and Emiel Smet’s wood panelled office. To the left is the living room and on the other side of the fireplace, the dining room in both of which lightly stained oak predominate, giving these areas a Flemish touch.
This is enhanced by a large, decorative copper relief plate and pewter on the fireplace wall and mantel and a display of Delft porcelain and Blegian crystal in the china cabinet in the dining area. The decor harks back to Emiel’s origins near Antwerp, Belgium.
Beyond the large kitchen is a porch enclosed by five tripleglazed doors that lead out to an expansive deck from which there is a lovely view of rolling meadows and woods. The cathedral ceiling of the porch and kitchen is six inch pine. Above the latter is the loft.
