By the October meeting the supervisors had received a letter in response from John D. Hall Jr., assistant director at the SCC, noting that REC had replied claiming that the problems were, “the result of failure of the equipment and accidental interruptions to the VEPCO system feeding the Cooperative’s Rixley substation,” and noting that REC and Virginia Power, “are taking corrective actions to improve the reliability of service.”
Hall’s letter said that at the Oct. 28 public hearing the SCC staff “will present the results of its audit of the Cooperative’s operations and its investigation with respect to the revisions the Cooperative is proposing in rates, rules and regulations.” He noted that the SCC-will make its decision on the rate increase following that hearing.
“You can rest assured that the Commission will consider the impact on consumers in making its decision. The Commission is well aware of its responsibility with respect to approving rates that will allow the Cooperative to maintain its financial viability, yet impact the consumer not more than is necessary,” the letter concluded.
Lynn named
to Dean's List
Katie Lynn, daughter of Pamela Warren Lynn of Washington and the late William E. Lynn and a sophomore at College of Notre Dame of Maryland, has been named to the college’s Dean’s List for the 19911992 academic year.
Miss Lynn, a 1991 graduate of the Wakefield Country Day School in Huntly is pursuing an undergraduate degree in Studio Art.
