From then on that is a mighty guilty spot.
The most embarrassing moment was when I was about 11 and was given the job as pallbearer. But in thinking about my shameful past, a couple of other incidents occured. One of these I have successfully repressed so I will leave that alone for a while. The other involved by first day in a new school.
I had never been given the name of the restroom. I had transferred from a one-room school to this big school. The restroom in the old school was in the basement so we called “it” the basement.
At home it was an “outhouse,” but we did not call it that. I don’t remember it even having a name at all.
