Welby Lynn, a 10th grader at Wakefield Country Day School in Huntly, has been selected from entries throughout the United States and Canada as the overall fourth place winner in the junior level of the Knights of Columbus Quincentennial Essay Competition.
According to Supreme Knight Virgil C. Dechant, Welby’s essay was chosen by the panel of judges as one of the very best. “Your thoughtprovoking essay,” writes Dechant, “demonstrates your own recognition of Columbus as a man of vision and courage.”
Miss Lynn is the daughter of Pamela W. Lynn, of Washington, and the late William E. Lynn Jr. She won the local essay contest held earlier this year by the Knights of Columbus John Carroll Jenkins Council No. 7771.
