Twelve Faith Mountain Company employees have just successfully completed a management course as part of the ongoing partnership between The Faith Mountain Company and Lord Fairfax Community College.
Greg Dodson, Jean Dodson, Cindy Dwyer, Margie Ellis, Barbara Gore, Charlotte Jenkins, Bilfy Menefee, Wanda Snead, Betty Walter, Tammy Wayland, Cheri Woodard and Martin Woodard all attended the summer semester program of LFCC’s “Principles of Supervision” held at Rappahannock High School.
The curriculum was designed to develop skills in carrying out supervisory responsibilities including interviewing, orientation, training, evaluating, disciplining and problem-solving techniques.
“The class was very informative, and the instructor was great,” said Charlotte Jenkins, The Faith Mountain Company’s Quality Assurance Coordinator. ‘The course was designed for smaller, companies, and their management and human relations needs. It focused on a great deal of motivating workers through human relations, and on the positive impact of decision making and responsibility at every level. This style of management encourages everyone to have a sense of ownership and pride in their work.”
“It was particularly rewarding to see that the autocratic leadership styles of the past are obsolete,” said Betty Walter, Warehouse Manager. “The new concentration is on working as a team and building team spirit. This gives the average worker an opportunity to achieve and to speak out, so that everyone has a part in company policies, and so that work is a more enjoyable place.”
The course was offered as part of The Faith Mountain Company’s continuing education program. The program was developed several years ago, with help from Lord
