Navy Petty Officer 3rd Classm Andrew K. Pratt, whose wife, Betty, is the daughter of Martha and George E. Kidwell Jr. of Castleton, currently aboard the destroyer USS Comte de Grasse, homeported in Norfolk, is midway through a Mediterranean deployment with the USS Saratoga aircraft carrier battle group.
Pratt has participated in training exercises with the German and Italian navies. The Comte de Grasse also conducted operations in the Western Mediterranean and the Adriatic Sea.
Port visits have included Naples, Gaeta, Trieste and Fiumincino, Italy; Villefranche, France; and Gulluk, Turkey.
The 1989 graduate of Rappahannock High School, Sperryville, joined the Navy in August 1989.
