Vineyard grapes
boast a winner
Gray Ghost Vineyard’s Cabernet Sauvignon grapes received a degree of notoriety during the 1992 Virginia Governor’s Cup Competition.
Seven Gold medals were awarded at the ceremonies in the Tysons Corner Ritz Carlton Hotel on Sept. 26. One of them was the 1991 Cabernet Sauvignon produced by Hartwood Winery. The award winning wine contained 89 percent Cabernet Sauvignon grapes that came from Gray Ghost Vineyards in Amissville.
Hartwood Winery released the wine on Oct. 5. Gray Ghost of Rappahannock County was officially acknowledged on the wine label.
Gray Ghose Vineyards is owned and operated by A1 and Cheryl Kellert and their two children.
