Flu shots available
The Rappahannock County Health Department will begin administering the 1992-93 flu vaccine in October against the most common flues throughout the season.
The following groups, reports the department, are at increased risk for serious illness with the flu and should receive vaccine: All people 65 years of age dr older, adults and children with long-term heart or lung problems, people who have a type of cancer or immunological disorder (or wwho use certain types of medications) that lowers the body’s normal resistance to infections and children and teenagers on longterm treatment with aspirin who if they catch the flu may be at risk for getting Reyes syndrome.
The cost is $7 for a person over 65 years of age or someone with a high risk medical condition listed above. The charge for all other persons will be $12.
The Rappahannock County Health Department will be offering the shots at the following times: 2 p.m.-4:30 p.m., Oct. 21; 2 p.m.-4 p.m., Oct. 29. For more information, call 675-3516 or 675-3055.
