Kilgore recently resigned from serving as the Executive Director of the Tobacco Settlement Foundation, a state agency that educates children to make healthy choices through a statewide effort to reduce and prevent the use of tobacco products by youth in Virginia.
“I believe in Jerry's positive vision for Virginia,” said Kilgore, “and I want to help spread the word about what a great governor he would be.”
Kilgore has her heart in the campaign as well as a head for education issues.
A third-generation school teacher, Kilgore is a former teacher in the Scott County public school system.
“Both my mother and grandmother were teachers,” smiled Kilgore who just that morning learned that their daughter, Kelsey, had been accepted into the fourth grade advanced math program.,
“I was thrilled to hear that,” said Kilgore who said there is no question that the SOL's (Standards of Learning) have helped to raise the bar for educational standards statewide.
