You are now on the “Bluff Trail.” After 0.1 mile, there will be a 5th concrete post marking the intersection with the Harris Hollow Trail' coming in from the left. The Harris Hollow Trail is an old wagon road that led down the mountain to the east into Rappahannock County. At the top of the Blue Ridge, the road went down the mountain to the west to Browntown Valley. Both the Harris Hollow Trail and the Browntown Trail are currently maintained as horseback riding trails. Continue straight on the Bluff Trail. It will turn downhill and come to a sixth concrete post. Stay left and continue on the Bluff Trail (so far you will have walked about 6/10th mile). The Bluff Trail now is almost level and runs along the southeast slope of Mount Marshall. There will be several streams to cross, but .these are small and you can easily step across them.
