These are, with few exceptions, people who readily answer calls for trouble. They go in the middle of the night, in the cold and rain, in the stifling heat of August. They rise from a sound sleep, from an important family holiday dinner, from any and all activities. Rescue comes first. They do this 365 days a year. Not one of these people gets paid. Each is a volunteer.
