Part of Jerry Kilgore's platform includes educational proposals that would focus not only on student achievement but quality and accountability of teachers as well.
“Jerry's got his three R's - recruitment, retention and reward,” said Kilgore who knows what a highly valued commodity a good teacher in the system can be in helping students achieve more.
“I know it's an issue,” continued Kilgore. “People are worried about teachers teaching to the test and what's going on in education. I believe in Jerry's plan for recruiting better teachers by paying and rewarding them more. It raises the bar all around.”
Like her husband, Kilgore believes that the major issue facing the new governor will be transportation issues and coming up with solutions to tackle the gridlock that is facing not only Northern Virginia but other areas of the state.
