With the coming of August, we have a greater chance of seemg meteors than at most other times of the year. The very famous Perseid Meteor Shower, so-called because these meteors appear to radiate from the area of the constellation Perseus in the north eastern sky, reaches its peak on August 12, though I have seen some of these meteors as early as June.
Perseid meteors are tiny dust particles left in a huge elliptical stream in the inner solar system from Comet SwiftTuttle, a comet of 130-year period, that last appeared in 1862
