Lace wings and their relatives (these include the familiar ant lions) are members of an insect order (Neuroptera, or “nerve wing”) characterized by two pairs of transparent wings reticulated by tiny veins. Over 1200 species of lacewings are recognized worldwide and a number are marketed as biological control agents. Adult green lacewings are pale green with golden eyes and long antennae.
