During the day they may be seen on trees and shrubs where they feed on nectar, pollen and honeydew. They are easier to see at night when they are attracted to lighted windows and floodlights.
Lacewing larvae are wingless, spiny, lizard-like creatures with large pincer mouthparts they use to capture prey. They are voracious predators that will eat any other smaller insects they encounter. Their effectiveness in controlling aphids, spider mi+es, leaf hoppers and other pests makes them especially useful as biological control agents.
