Among community events, few bring out as many people as a beauty contest where one’s children, grandchildren, and friends compete for the honor of recognition for their good looks and charm. The Miss Rappahannock 2006 Pageant, with 89 contestants in 11 categories wijs a perfect example and attracted an enthusiastic crowd of 300.
The tense excitement of so many young women vying for beauty queen honors was electric. Watching them line up in preparation for their march across the stage, exchanging hugs, tips and good wishes was heartwarming as well. The moment everyone was waiting for—the crowning of “Miss Rappahannock 2006”—was a memorable event for all.
