May 11: RappFLOW workshop

Do you love to observe nature? Did you know that keeping our rivers and streams healthy is dependent on ample trees and shrubs (buffers) on stream banks?

RappFLOW is launching an innovative program to assess our county buffers. We are looking for dedicated volunteers to join our team and help make a difference. Our trained volunteer monitors can work independently and/or in teams. Join us and our expert trainer, Greg Wichlens from Culpeper Soil and Water on May 11th, 1-4 p.m.

Annual Poetry Reading

Hearthstone School will hold the Annual Poetry Reading for Rappahannock County Students in its Community Room on Friday, May 12 beginning at 7:00 pm. All students in Rappahannock County are invited to participate, from the public schools, other private schools and home schoolers. The evening will include a “coffee house” atmosphere with snacks and drinks for the audience to enjoy while listening to the children reciting both original poetry and also poems by famous or favorite authors. (Good Morning Juliet):

On Friday, May 12 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, May 13 from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. RCHS Drama wdll present a riotous, modem comedy: “Goodnight, Desdemona (Good Morning Juliet)”. It is the story of Constance Leadbelly, a mousy young English Professor who finds herself hurled into the passionate world of Elizabethan tragedy. Swords/Daggers included.

The Theatre presents a concert titled “The 3 Bs: Bach, Bernstein and the Beatles,” soprano, alto, tenor, and baritone saxes evoke the refined sounds of a strong quartet. Memorial Scholarship Dinner

Diana Corbin is starting an athletic scholarship in memory of her son Dylan. Come out for a Roast Beef and Ham Dinner with homemade macaroni and cheese and com pudding and great desserts. The event will be held at the Lignum Ruritan Building off Route 3 toward Fredericksburg from 5-7:30 p.m. It will be worth the ride and help provide funds for these scholarships which will be awarded to a graduating male and female. The tickets are $10.00 in advance and $12 at the door. Tickets can be purchased at the high school from Helen Berry and Linda Torrence at RCES or by calling Diana Corbin 547-3452. See you there!
