Once the laws take effect, a mandatory sentence of 25 years to life will be handed down to anyone convicted of a first offense of “rape, forcible sodomy and object sexual penetration in the commission of an abduction, breaking and entering, or serious bodily injury to a child under 13.”
A mandatory life sentence will be imposed for a second conviction.
Furthermore, offenders convicted of serious sex crimes will face three years of mandatory supervised probation. They will be required to wear GPS monitoring devices and will be subjected to unsupervised court probation for life.
