ney Gary Close advised parents to be aware of everyone who comes into contact with their children. He also encouraged them to “try to keep the lines of communication open” so children are willing to talk to them if something does happen.
“You can’t be afraid to intervene on behalf of your children,” Lisa Peacock, director of Social Services in Culpeper added. “If you see someone who looks out of place at your child’s soccer game or another activity, don’t be afraid to ask who they are and what they are doing there. Nothing scares a sex offender more than when someone is paying attention to what they are doing.”
