“A lot has changed,” said Kitty Cannon. “Someone’s bought the land across the way but I don’t know who. I really don’t know a lot of people now.”

With many of their friends and relations getting older or deceased, the Cannons have each other and their spot in Rappahannock County and for both of them this is good.

At 90, Cannon can still navigate the rooms of his cozy home. “Oh, it’s my knees,” he complained as he strongly clasped his cane. “I get out of wind.”

“I’ll fix him whatever he wants for his birthday meal,” smiled Kitty, “and perhaps I can get Pete to pose for you on another visit.
