James W. Leake
In the afternoon of Sunday, April 30, 2006, James W. Leake took his peaceful journey to God with his loving family by his side.
He was born on March 31, 1941, the son of James Wilson Leake and Nannie Virginia Leake.
He is survived by two devoted sons, his “boys”, and their spouses, Gary W. Leake and his wife K. Renee' Leake and Michael T. Leake and his wife Pamela L Leake, two cherished grandchildren Jordan W. Leake and Caitlin M. Leake, one sister Mary Ann Leake and Carroll S. Settle and one brother Thomas W. Leake and his wife Carolyn J. Leake and many beloved nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a half brother Robert Rutherford.
He was a life-long resident of Rappahannock County and the Village of Sperryville where he was a real estate agent and broker for 34 years. He was a founding member of the Sperryville Volunteer Fire Department and active in various other organizations.
He was a man of integrity who enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. He was respected for his knowledge and passion about business and real estate in Rappahannock County.
Graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, May 4, 2006 at the Sperryville Cemetery with Rev. Jon Heddelston, Rev. John Burke, and Rev. Joel Cress officiating.
Pallbearers are Julian S. Brown, John R. Eubank, Jr., James W. Fletcher, HI, Alvin F. Henry, Jr., Thomas G. Taylor, Charles E. Corder, and Anthony E. Berry. Honorary pallbearers are Randolph D. Clater and B. Wilson Atkins.
