Fire Department Carnival

From May 17-20 the Sperryville Volunteer Fire Department will have their carnival. On Thursday, May 18 there will be Bluegrass music and box suppers, Friday, May 19 at 7 p.m. the parade and on Saturday, May 20 the grand prize drawing and crowning of the Queen. at “Historical Sampler”

Mark your calendar for Saturday, May 20, for an historic house tour in beautiful Rappahannock County that illuminates history through living demonstrations of life on a 1830s era plantation. The annual fundraiser sponsored by the Rappahannock Historical Society will focus on the activities one would have seen at a plantation of this era in the Piedmont of Virginia, including blacksmithing, weaving, butter churning, woodworking, and live 19th century dancing and Appalachian music and gospel singing. The interactive learning experience will fascinate adults as well as children. The event will be at Meadow Green Farm, a working farm on the Hughes River with an historic house in the shadow of Old Rag near Sperryville. Tickets are $10 in advance ($15 at the door) and only $5 for chil- , dren from six to 12 years old.
