Two missing persons

Rappahannock County had an unusual rash of missing persons cases , with two elderly men going missing within a week of one another. Luckily, both men were found unharmed. The first, on Sunday, April 23, was missing for about 8 hours, and was found by Rappahannock County Deputy Chris Williams in an abandoned old house near his home. Williams had recently attended a special training course on Alzheimer’s patients, and knew that they often seek out their childhood homes. When Williams discovered that the missing man had been bom in the abandoned house, he decided to search it, and found the missing man, who was unharmed. The second man went missing in Shenandoah National Park on Saturday April 29, and wasn’t found until Sunday. This second man went missing after heading out to go fishing. A search party of almost 200 people were searching for him, but he was not found until Sunday evening, he was unharmed. Accused sex offender appeals bond ruling

Samuel A. Marvin, arrested April 7, on charges of aggravated sexual battery and indecent liberties with a minor, will go before the Rappahannock County Circuit court for a bond hearing on May 4. Marvin was originally denied bond but has appealed the decision. The charges against the 46-year-old Sperryville house painter are known to stem from Marvin’s relationship with a six-year-old girl, and were brought against Marvin by the Rappahannock County Sheriff’s Office based on information from Rappahannock County Social Services. This incident is till under investigation by the RCSO and anyone with information concerning Samuel Marvin is encouraged to call the Rappahannock County Sheriff’s Office at (540) 675-5300.
