Maarit is mighty glad they did. “We do lots of fun things. Just being with them is very interesting,” she says when pressed to tell her favorite event to date in Rappahannock. The one that stuck most in her mind on Monday was flipping over in a canoe on the Covington River on Sunday. “It was pretty cold,” she said, but, yes, it was fun.
Mrs. McNear is a good cook, too, Maarit says. She especially enjoys Mexican tacos and American hamburgers. “We have hamburgers, too, but not like Mrs. McNear makes."
