Her “Cuddly Creations” have dimples on their knees, dimples on their elbows, endearing smiles and wide eyes. Soft and squeezable, they invite kisses from tots.
Their $30 dollar price tag may seem high at first thought.. But every doll is an original and each takes about a day to make. “It’s hard to say exactly how long I spend. I cut out three or four at a time and work on them until they’re finished— at night, on weekends, on holidays, everytime I get a free hour. But I figure I have about a day invested in each.”
Those extra hours for cuddlies are difficult to find. Mrs. Stephenson has a full time job at the Freedom Studies Institute in Boston and with her husband and their two children, she makes and sells other crafts. George Stevenson is the business manager, daughter Peggy, a senior at Rappahannock County High School, creates stained glass pieces, son Chuck, a freshman at Lord Fairfax College, does leather work and Eva fashions cpm husk dolls.
