The labels are redeemed by the Campbell Soup Company for physical education equipment. McLawhorn says the elementary school has received volleyballs, baseball bats, first aid kits, basketballs and nets, soccer balls and even a parachute through past drives.

This year she plans to use the labels for enough rubber balls so each teacher can have one for his or her classroom. This will save time locating sports equipment when children want to play ball, McLawhorn says. Meanwhile, she plans to use the budgeted $500 for sit-up benches, volleyball poles and other outdoor equipment. The Campbells labels will go towards “luxury” sporting goods.
