Once the horse has been entered in a race the owner or trainer is sent passes to the meet and an overnight form showing all the other horses entered in the race.
“We recommend that the owners get to the meet at least an hour before the first race,” says Judy Gilman, racing secretary for the Warrenton and Old Dominion Hunts. “They should check in with the racing secretary so we know if there are any scratches and are not left waiting until the last minute for someone.
