The Virginia Prize, one of the largest literary awards in the country, will be offered for poetry this year by the Virginia Commission for the Arts. The $8,000 award alternates annually between fiction and poetry.
The deadline for submission of manuscripts for the competition is April 1. According to the Commission, any Virginia resident who has lived continuously in the state since January of 1982 is eligible to enter.
