The Book?
Volume four of the ’84 edition of the World Book Encyclopedia has “walked away” from the Rappahannock County Library, according to library volunteer Pat Helmer.
Helmer issued the plea Tuesday to the present custodian of the missing book, “Please bring it back! No questions asked!”
A bashful borrower could slip it into the mailbox at midnight, Helmer said. The librarians won’t mind. They just want the book back.
“We have so little money, we would hate to use it to replace when we could buy some good fiction,” she added.
There is an encyclopedia which may be checked out, but not the new one, she said.
