E. M. Martin of Charlottesville was low bidder at a special January 3 meeting. The company bid $19,257 to install rubber roofing over part of the elementary school. They were supposed to start work within 30 days of signing the contract on January 10.
“What about this?” asked board member Bill Oliver pointing to the water stained ceiling directly over his head. The board was in its customary meeting place—the elementary school library.
The contract doesn’t include interior damage nor does it include external roofing other than over the gym and cafeteria, Estabrook answered. The project would be done in phases although “we’re pushing our, luck throughout this building in waiting."
