Estabrook asked that the school board transfer approximately $4,000 from the assistant principal’s salary to “other instructional” to help make up the difference. The assistant principal account is at 37 percent because RCES assistant principal Mike Cotter started in mid-September and will not receive the entire annual salary, Estabrook explained.
Money may be transferred within (but not between) categories without the Board of Supervisors approval. Thus instructional salaries may be transferred within their accounts with a School Board vote, Estabrook explained.
The board approved the change while members agreed that a permanent solution should be sought from supervisors during this year’s budget hearings.
